I promise, this is the last of my season predictions. I figured I had to get it all out of my system so that when I become right I can say I told ya so. Of course, if I'm not right, these prediction blogs will be completely erase and I'll deny any evidence you might hold against me.
Anyway, here are my season predictions for individual player awards:
MVP - Lebron James - Cleveland Caveliers
Sure, you can make a case for Steve Nash winning his third straight MVP; for Garnett, Kobe, Wade and many other players. However, I think this is Lebron's year. In the 60s, you were either a Beatles fan or a Rolling Stones fan. It seems that in today's NBA, you're either a Kobe Bryant fan or a Lebron James fan, so you might hear a lot of people disagree about this pick. Still, Lebron's in the perfect position to prove all his critics wrong and take his team to the next level. In my opinion, he was more deserving than Nash to win the MVP last season, and I don't think he'll get over looked this year.
Rookie of the Year - Brandon Roy - Portland Trail Blazers
The acronym (R.O.Y.) even spells his last name! Brandon Roy is in the best position of all rookies to showcase his skills right away. Unlike all the other rookies, Roy is already in a leadership position and will have the most expectations on him. Other candidates are Rudy Gay, Adam Morrison, Randy Foye, and (as long shots) Ronnie Brewer and Rajon Rondo.
Defensive Player of the Year - Ben Wallace - Chicago Bulls
Ron Artest will give him a lot of competition for this honor, but I think Big Ben will come away with it. He's got a great defensive lineup behind him and is a wonderful fit with Chicago. The Bulls will be the best defensive team in the league with a lot of young, athletic, and long players to play the passing lanes and block shots on the break.
6th Man of the Year - Antonio McDyess - Detroit Pistons
Assuming he doesn't take over as the starting FC (currently held by Nazr Mohammed), McDyess will be asked to fill more of a role in Detroit. When he got the opportunity to play last year, he put up some solid numbers.
Coach of the Year - Don Nelson - Golden State Warriors
Nellie has the opportunity to make a big splash in Golden State. He'll command the respect from players like Baron Davis where Mike Montgomery couldn't.

My picks
Rather than dedicating a whole blog to this, here are my picks...
MVP - Kevin Garnett...he's motivated. I say he steps up big for Minnesota and leads them back into the playoffs.
Rookie of the Year - Brandon Roy...I love Morrison, but you're right, Roy's a monster.
Defensive Player of the Year - Ron Artest...he's finally back and he has a lot to prove.
6th Man of the Year - Marquis Daniels...he'll fit well with Indiana.
Coach of the Year - Jeff Van Gundy...the Warriors suck!
Nellie
He sure how a long way to go after the team's first game of the season. Ouch.
GS
They looked pretty horrible, huh. I'd like to see them play for about a month or two before I make snap judgments.
