Unfortunately, Yahoo doesn't allow non-participants to view a league while in progress (I know, because I asked). So, I'll be providing period updates on how the league is going, as well as more in-depth and thorough monthly reports around the start of each new month.
Here are the BEL standings as of today. John Karalis from Red's Army is in the lead, but has also used the most games, which is something he might have to keep a close eye on as the season progresses.
1. John Karalis (RedsArmy.com) 76.5 points - 48 games used (+8 pace)
2. Ari Bluestein (SportsFanBase.com) 74 points - 43 games used (+3 pace)
3. Phil Partington - (Fantapedia.net) 73.5 points - 36 games used (-4 pace)
4. Ken Slight (BasketballMonster.com) 73 points - 43 games used (+3 pace)
4. Michael Vu (FantasySportsMatrix.com) 73 points - 43 games used (+3 pace)
6. Matt Satten (DroppingDimes.com) 65 points - 34 games used (-6 pace)
7. Zach Harper (TalkHoops.net) 61.5 points - 42 games used (+2 pace)
8. Howard Mash (GameDayDraft.com) 51.5 points - 26 games used (-14 pace)
9. Geoff Stein (MockDraftCentral.com) 50 points - 33 games used (-7 pace)
10. Matthew Hinzpeter (FantasyInsiderOnline.com) 39 points - 39 games used (-2 pace)

Analysis: Game management is crucial in leagues where there is a maximum limit set to the amount of games you can use. Make sure you know if you're in a league like that. Yahoo public leagues have a limit. On the one hand, you want to ensure you get in as many games as possible to give yourself the best chance to post the most stats. On the other hand, getting too many games in too quickly means you're sacrificing playing your best players for players who might not be quite as good.
For the most part, no one's in trouble yet with games, but there are a few teams who need to watch themselves, especially the ones who are way behind or way ahead.
Transactions
It might be significant to mention that only seven managers have made any kind of move and that five of them are the top five teams in the standings. This season is going to be about playing the wire. With so many potential sleepers, it will be hard to imagine winning many leagues simply by your draft.
Here are some of the best pick ups so far in BEL:
John Karalis grabbing Boris Diaw and DeSagana Diop
Phil Partington grabbing John Salmons
Michael Vu grabbing Brendan Haywood
There were many other pick ups that could prove fruitful, like Julie Simmons' nab of Yi Jianlian and Michael Vu's pick up of Cuttino Mobley.

Oh
I assume a lot of things... Like the other day.... I assumed that old lady would get out of my way as I was driving down the street. And I also assumed that lady I was talking to was kidding when she said it would cost 50 bucks to do that. I should stop assuming. So the good thing is... I'm currently on 82 or 83 game paces at all positions... so I've got to just keep an eye on things. Damn you and your "rules" Partington
lol
They're not my rules. I actually typically tweak them more for leagues I run for friends. But, as this is an expert league, I wanted no questions about setting things up to favor me. So, I mimicked default public league scoring system, and have told everyone in the league that multiple times from day one. I bear no responsibility for this one :P.
Good thing you caught it now, though. You'll be fine.
Hmmm
I posted this a day too soon. The very next day I moved into first :P.
Wait..What??
Umm.... what's this about a games maximum?
lol
John, you were SUPPOSED to check the league settings before the draft. :)
"Games maximum" is pretty standard in rotisserie. Basically, you have 82 games to spend for each position. Under your roster, if you click "games maximum" it'll tell you how many games you've spent per position, how many you have left and what your season pace is.
