February 2008 NBA Trade Deadline Approaches

The NBA trade deadline is this Thursday, February 21st, and the rumors have been nuts!
 

First, let's recap the big deals of the last month.
 

  1. L.A. Lakers acquire Pau Gasol and a 2010 second-round draft pick from Memphis in exchange for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie, the draft rights to Marc Gasol and first round picks in 2008 and 2010; Lakers sign D.J. Mbenga to second 10-day contract. 
  2. San Antonio Spurs sign Damon Stoudamire.
  3. New Jersey acquires Stromile Swift from Memphis in exchange for Jason Collins and cash considerations. 
  4.  Phoenix acquires Shaquille O'Neal from Miami in exchange for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks.
  5. Atlanta acquires Mike Bibby from Sacramento in exchange for Shelden Williams, Lorenzen Wright, Anthony Johnson, Tyronn Lue and a 2008 second round draft pick. 
  6.  Dallas acquires Jason Kidd, Malik Allen and Antoine Wright (and waives Nick Fazekas) after signing Keith Van Horn and trading Van Horn, Devin Harris, Trenton Hassell, Maurice Ager, DeSagana Diop, first-round draft choices in 2008 and 2010, and cash considerations to New Jersey.

With the deadline tomorrow, here are numerous trade rumors that have sprouted.
 

  • The New Jersey Nets, Miami Heat and New York Knicks are apparently in talks for a deal that would send Vince Carter to the Knicks, Eddy Curry to the Heat and the expiring contracts of Ricky Davis and Jason Williams to the Nets.
  • Mike Miller of the Memphis Grizzlies has heard his name come up a lot.  One rumors has him going to the Indiana Pacers for Ike Diogu and Marquis Daniels. Another rumors has him going to New Jersey for Jamaal Magloire and Bostjan Nachbar. Other rumors have him going to New Jersey, the LA Clippers and even Cleveland.
  • Jermaine O'Neal's name is coming up, but many teams are concerned with his health and the fact that he has two years left on his $44 million contract.
