New Jersey Nets point guard Jason Kidd has publicly stated that he wants to be traded. No surprise, since the struggling Nets are just 19-26. They do currently hold onto the eighth playoff spot, but Indiana and Chicago nip at their heels.
The latest buzz is that Kidd could be traded to the Dallas Mavericks, along with Jamaal Magloire and Malik Allen. The Portland Trail Blazers would be involved as a third team and would send forwards Travis Outlaw, Channing Frye and Jarrett Jack to the Nets. New Jersey would also get Jerry Stackhouse and Devean George and a No. 1 draft pick and cash from Dallas, while the Blazers would get Dallas point guard Devin Harris. Obviously, more players would have to be included in order for this deal to work. Portland would most certainly be receiving additional players. However, it's an intriguing rumor. One hiccup to the trade is that Harris is injured at the moment.
Still, think about the lineups.
Dallas would have a starting five of Erick Dampier (or DeSagana Diop), Dirk Nowitzki, Josh Howard, Jason Kidd and either Jason Terry or Eddie Jones.
Portland would have a starting five of Joel Przybilla (Greg Oden next season), LaMarcus Aldridge, Martell Webster, Devin Harris and Brandon Roy.
New Jersey would have a starting five of Nenad Krstic, Channing Frye, Richard Jefferson, Jarrett Jack and Vince Carter. Carter would likely be dealt.
The Nets want Josh Howard, but Dallas doesn't want to part with him.
