Monumental Trade in the Works

The Phoenix Suns are close to landing NBA star Kevin Garnett.  The Suns would send forward Amare Stoudemire to the Atlanta Hawks; the Minnesota Timberwolves would receive Atlanta's 3rd and 11th pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, as well as ZaZa Pachulia and Anthony Johnson and the Suns would receive Kevin Garnett.

Atlanta guard Joe Johnson, who left Phoenix with low regard for Stoudemire, said he'd welcome the trade.

Fantasy Spin:  This would certainly change the look of the Atlanta Hawks in dramatic fashion.  Some question whether Amare Stoudemire would be as effective without Steve Nash dishing him the ball, but in the small Eastern Conference, he shouldn't have any problems.

Moreover, imagine Kevin Garnett teamed with Steve Nash. Adding Garnett shouldn't hurt Shawn Marion's numbers either, since he's more of a garbage player than a go-to-guy.

The Timberwolves might see the emergence of Randy Foye or whomever they selected with their three lottery picks.
