NBA Injury Updates
- Josh Childress - As of December 2nd, he's out for four weeks with a broken foot.
- Marvin Williams - They're hoping to release him to play December 12th.
- Kendrick Perkins - Foot injury will sideline him for three weeks.
- Larry Hughes - It seems like they're saying he'll be back every game. Most recently, they've said he could be back today (December 6th). Who knows, though? You might want to keep him on your bench until he shakes off some rust after being hurt.
- Nene - He's still working on that bruised right hip. He was expected to come back a while ago, but he hasn't seemed to shake the nagging injury. Expect them to nurse him back slowly.
- Damon Stoudemire - He's out with a "sore right knee," which translated means, "He's old as dirt!"
- Eddie Jones - Right achilles tendinitis. See the comment about Damon Stoudemire.
- Pau Gasol - He's making a nice recovery and he could be back before Christmas! He should not be available on the waiver wire in any league. If he is, pick him up now!
- Shaquille O'Neal - He had knee surgery, so don't expect him back before the New Year. With Alonzo Mourning playing so well, the Heat aren't going to rush him.
- Charlie Villanueva - He's recovering well from elbow surgery and should be back within the week. He still needs doctor's clearance to play, but he's hoping for as early as today.
- Bobby Simmons - Apparently he might need surgery, which would put him out for the rest of the season. We'll find that out by the end of the week.
- Rashad McCants - He's out indefinitely after having knee surgery.
- Bobby Jackson - He cracked a rib on November 28th and will be out for two weeks.
- Peja Stojakovic - He's having back spasms, which seem to keep recurring. No telling when he'll be back and playing consistent minutes.
- David West - The MRI exam said he had a strained right forearm. He's said to have to miss at least three games. Might be a good guy to trade for at low cost right now.
- Channing Frye - Out 3-6 weeks with a sprained ankle (as of November 26th). However, he might return sooner than that.
- Jared Jeffries - He's set to return anytime now. Isiah Thomas has said that Frye and Jeffries will play the forward spots, with Lee moving back to the bench and possibly Quentin Richardson moving to the two guard spot with Marbury and/or Francis coming off the bench.
- Kyle Korver - His ankle has no pain, but it's weak. They said it'd be a game time decision for Wednesday, December 6th. Keep him on your bench, though, because his minutes will probably be limited.
- Brandon Roy - The boot is off, but he's not expected to practice until December 16th.
- Ron Artest - He's considered day-to-day with a sore lower back.
- Ray Allen - He's having an MRI done this morning to learn more about the strained tendon in his right ankle.
- Chris Bosh - He hasn't missed any games yet, but he did miss a practice and the Raptors are concerned. He's got an eye virus. He can see apparently, but he's super sensative to light. They don't yet know if it will cause him to miss games.
- Morris Peterson - He's actually suiting up tonight against the Cavs!
- Darius Songaila - He's still recovering from back surgery. He should be out for at least another two months or so. And just as a reminder, the following players are out for the season: Kenyon Martin, Robert Swift and Darius Miles (and potentially Bobby Simmons).
Marvin Williams
Would u guys reccommend making a play for Marvin Williams now he's nearly back from injury? And what kind of production can I expect from him?
Thanks.
re: Marvin Williams
I guess it depends on who you'd want to drop and what you think Williams will do. He might be a bit rusty shooting-wise, as he did just recover from a broken hand. He averaged about 11.9 ppg, 5.4 rbpg, 2.0 apg, 1.0 spg, 0.7 bspg and 2.4 topg in 7 games during the pre-season. Not that pre-season play is any indication of how well he'll do. His talent hasn't translated to great stats yet. However, Childress being hurt helps his cause. He will still have to battle with Josh Smith and Shelden Williams for playing time, but if you're in a deep league and can afford a roster spot or two, you might consider picking him up and maybe benching him for a while to see what he does. If you've got a deep team, though, he might not be worth picking up at this point. I see him being a bigger factor later in the season.
Bosh's eye
That eye thing with Bosh is kinda funny.
The Docta
Smith?
You mean Josh Childress? I got rid of Childress 2 or 3 weeks ago, thinking I could find some temporary help while he was out then pick him back up later. Which I was looking to do this week before finding out he's even worse off. Oh well.
Speaking of Villanueva, he's available in one of my leagues, and the only guy I'm thinking I could cut for him is Gomes. How would that look?
Good Catch
Yup, he means Childress...I'm guessing. I fixed it.
Dropping Gomes for Charlie V is a good idea. Gomes is one of those guys you pick up when he's hot. Not that he's all that streaky, but the Celtic offense is such that Gomes isn't going to be very consistent at this point in his career.
