Rumor Mill: Bulls offer Ben Gordon in Package Deal for Pau Gasol

John Paxson, Bulls GM, confirmed that he'd been in talks with Memphis about Pau Gasol.  According to a league source, the Bulls have offered Ben Gordon, PJ Brown (and his $8 million expiring contract) and a first round draft pick for Pau Gasol, who has requested a trade.

"We need a guy to score like that," said Paxson. "We need somebody with length that could score around the basket, take some pressure off of Ben (Wallace)." [source1]

Fantasy Spin:  This trade would make a lot of sense for both teams.  The Bulls would finally get the low post scorer they covet and the Grizzlies would get a top-flight prospect, and expiring contract and a first round draft pick - all things a rebuilding, young team could ask for in such a trade.  Gordon and Mike Miller would really spread the floor if paired on the same team.  Miller's fantasy value might slip a little with Gordon there, as would Rudy Gay's, but it remains to be seen how such a change would affect other players.  As for Chicago, look for Deng to greatly benefit from having a Pau Gasol in the lineup.  He would see a lot more open looks and Gasol is a very good passer out of the low block.  Also, being paired with Gasol could potentially help Ben Wallace find consistency as Big Ben wouldn't have to worry so much about trying to contribute to the offense.
